Spinal Decompression

We love our Decompression Table!

Spinal decompression/traction is used to treat herniated discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, pinched nerves, and many other back conditions.

More information...

Unfortunately, back and neck pain happens to the best of us!  There are many environmental factors that cause it, such as overdoing physical activity (hopscotch, couch potato-ing, lawn darts?), a poor night’s sleep, or even just a byproduct of getting older!  This makes the need for back pain treatment something that nearly everyone can relate to. For many, medication, a little ice and taking the time to recover are effective methods to relieve back discomfort. However, if your back pain has persisted through several weeks of basic treatment, the use of a decompression table could help you immensely!

The basic premise of any type of decompression device is simple: to elongate the spine so that spinal anatomy can be properly realigned and nerve compression can be released—without surgery!! It gently stretches and changes the force and position of the spine. This process takes pressure off the spinal discs (gel-like cushions between the bones in your spine) allowing them to retract, taking pressure off nerves and other structures in the spine.  When this is achieved, it helps promote movement of water, oxygen, and nutrient-rich fluids into the discs so they can heal.

The results of spinal traction include pain relief, proper spinal alignment, and decompressed joints.  Under the right circumstances, this could significantly improve the way you move and feel throughout the day—hooray!

With the help of other physical therapies, many people find great success with spinal traction.  Treatment reduces pain and the body is more capable of healing itself.  Some people only need spinal traction therapy for a short period of time.  Generally, it takes about 6 treatments in closer proximity to get the body on track. Many people use the decompression table throughout their lives for maintenance—it feels oh so good!
